이화 동문 손명희(64)동문 아드님. Kenneth Bae 씨가 tour operator (선교)하러 북한에 갔다가 북한의 특별교화소(교도소), “North Korean Special Labor Camp.” 억류되어 있다는 슬프고 안타까운 소식이에요.

Kenneth Bae 씨 석방을 위해 백악관에 petition을 보내는 준비를 하고 있어요. 우리 이화 가족일이니 동문들의 도움이 필요하고 online으로 만 petition에 sign할 수 있으니 email이 있는 모든 동문들께 forward 하면 좋겠습니다.

Through his tour company that he started, he was able to show the natural beauty of North Korea to many. He was arrested on November 3, 2012 while working as a tour operator in Rason (Rajin-Sonbong), one of North Korea’s special economic zones for foreign investors. And he has been sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for what the DPRK identified as anti-government activities.
